Michel Vermandé grew up in Nancy, a city in North-East France, famous for the birth of the Art Nouveau movement and home to artists of the likes of August and Antoine Daum, Emile Galle and Louis Majorelle. Michel undertook his jewellery apprentiship in his hometown under the guidance of Paris trained designer-jeweller Bernard Buguet.

Michel made a move half way around the world, arriving in Sydney, Australia in 1980 and immediately joined some of Sydney’s leading jewellery houses of the time. A few short years later, he established himself in  rural New South Wales , opening his own boutique jewellery store in the beautiful Southern Highland where he has resided ever since.

More recently, Michel worked as a master jeweller for one of the oldest and most exclusive jewellery companies in Australia, Fairfax and Roberts, under the direction of then Creative Director Lisa Rochfort. Their working relations has endured and they are still closely associated as Michel produces exclusive pieces of jewellery for Lisa’s Rochfort Gallery based in North Sydney.

Michel now works from his peaceful and creative studio in Bowral. His services to clients include:
